How Soon Should A Broken Tibia And Fibula Be Attended To If There Is Numbness? And Which Specialist To Consult?

My husband is 43, 6 ft tall, 220 lbs and took a fall on the ice on Friday afternoon. He went to a small hospital ER for original diagnoses. He has two breaks in the tibia and one in his fibula. The hospital transferred him, by ambulance to another hospital that had the ability to operate. The orthopedist at the second hospital told him he should have surgery closer to home for follow up reasons. They casted him and sent him on his way with pain meds. I transported him home and he is a lot of pain and is complaining that his leg and foot are starting to go numb. He can still feel me tickling his toes. Is it ok to wait until morning to get medical attention? We don't have an appointment anywhere but would rather not go to a third ER. I am going to try to get an appointment tomorrow and see an MD in their office or even send his xrays over and hope to be admitted that way? Will that work? Finally, it looks like there are very specific specialities in Orthopedics, which of the specialist is best for this type of surgery? Thank you very much!

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
hello madam,
going through the history of your husbands trauma, in my sincere opinion I would recommend you to get the surgery done at the earliest. the right specialist would be a general orthopedic surgeon. please hurry up with the consult especially if he has developed a wound.
regards
