How To Assess If A Patient Has Autoimmune Pancreatitis?
How do you assess if a patient has autoimmune pancreatitis? I'm 25 years old, female and suffer with chronic pains every so often. Doctors are stumped as to what is wrong with me but seem not to be doing much to help. I've had these pains for 12 years now
Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) can occur as a primary pancreatic disorder or in association with other disorders of presumed autoimmune etiology, including IgG4 cholangitis, salivary gland disorders, mediastinal fibrosis, retroperitoneal fibrosis, tubulointerstitial disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. Diagnosis depends on: 1. Histology. 2. Imaging. 3. Serologic testing for IgG4. 4. Anti-PBP peptide antibodies. 5. Other antibodies. 6. The distinction of IAC from PSC.
Also, it may be caused by irritable bowel syndrome or infection or inflammatory bowel problems etcetera. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
