Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How To Avoid Suniton Paracetamol Mediated Side Effects?
I have been taking gabapentin to treat my back pain becos of prolapsed discs around neck and lower back. Recently the pain becomes more unbearable so I was advised to take Suniton paracetamol with omeraperazole (antacid). I realised that each time after taking Suniton, I will have chest discomfort, and lots of burpings and fratulence. Kindly advise?
The side effects are probably caused by orphenadrine (which is one of the active ingredients of suniton). When a patient faces such a situation I usually prescribe paracetamol alone or substitute orphenadrine for another drug (either an NSAID or an opioid). I wouldn't recommend adding more drugs to relieve the side effects. If omeprazole was prescribed because of suniton then omeprazole can be stopped as well. Please keep in mind that all changes in your regimen should be approved by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
