I welcome you to Healthcare magic for your health concerns
I am Dr Fahim and I will answer your health query
I have gone through your question and understood your concerns for your wife left leg pain. Initially, as you already mentioned when she visited a doctor after the fall, they labelled her as
muscle pain. After trauma, muscles do get into spasms resulting in straightening of the spine and causing
severe pain. It usually subsides in matter of weeks with pain killers and
muscle relaxant.
If the pain persists even after one year and also runs down leg, it appears to be neurological in origin. In this case straight leg raising (SLR) test is done, if the leg’s straight raising gets painful, it hints towards
SCIATICA. A doctor may then advise MRI Lumbosacral spine, to look into
intervertebral disc prolapse or any other abnormalities. If such a patient walks into my clinic I usually prescribe him local and systemic pain killers and referral to neurosurgeon or spinal surgeon with MRI reports.
I hope my answer will help you. Do rate it, if you like it.
