Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on Atenolol for 6 years (had a silent heart attack) Now I develloped Atrial Fibrillation. How to control this so i do not get a stroke? I am 76 yo male (ex carpenter, retired in 1985) and in general good health. I do use a sleep Apnea machine at night. We live in San Jose CA 95130
In your case i would like to suggest starting anticoagulation (blood thinners) with qumadine. It's recommended that you keep your blood thin (measured by INR between 2-3).
Also i would like to suggest to keep your HR between 80-120/min with betablockers and digoxin.
Hope it was of help! Dr. Benard
