My husband, age 55, emits a very forceful snorting sound at the end of each breath, at the end of words, while eating, all the time. The only time he doesn t make this sound is when sleeping. He was told in the past that he had a very large uvula and I don t know if he is snorting it out of the way when breathing. I also thought it was VPI. Sometimes he snorts four, five, or six times in a row. He can control it for a few minutes when confronted but most of the time, he just continues making it. I don t know if speech therapy would help him breathe and control this sound.
