My 13 yo daughter has an enlarged lymph node in her neck, left side. She has had ultrasound and a CT scan that was read out as lymphadenopathy. The Dr. she was seeing told us there was nothing to worry about and that it should go away. It did go away but it recently came back. Hasn t gotten any bigger and she hasn t had any other symptoms. All labs also came back negative. What are some thoughts and opinions? Thank You!
Hi. Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Your daughter is just 13 years old and is a candidate for recurrent throat, nose and scalp infections.. This is the major reasons for recurrent lymph node enlargement in children.
I would advise you the following: -ENT Examination by an ENT Surgeon to find out any focus of infection and to get it treated properly. -FNAC or biopsy of one of the most accessible and large node where the scar will be least visible to rule out Lymphoma and such dreaded diseases. -A 3-week course of an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines and the problem will be solved.
If you follow this stringently and not allow and to treat the infection in the drainage area in time, there will be no recurrence.
