Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My older brother is 67 years old. He is a alcoholic (severe). He has lost all of his teeth except for about six in the bottom front of his mouth; which is due to agent orange exposure when he was stationed in Vietnam. He has trouble eating. I have been trying to get help for him such as dentures, and healthcare. He is increasingly less cooperative. He sleeps and drinks all day and has begun to urinate on himself. Will ensure help to sustain him? If you have other suggestions that will help me help him I would appreciate it very much.
It can be difficult to convince an alcoholic or problem drinker to seek treatment, so it is helpful to have a professional walk you through the process and tell you what to do and not do, before you try to talk to your brother.
It is never too late to get help for your brother, if you think that he has a drinking problem or may be an alcoholic.
