How To Differentiate Cardiac With Pulmonary Embolism?
I am a currently a Paramedic student and I am trying to research Pulmonary Embolism. I have read auscultation can have clear lung sounds and some say crackles. How do you truly differentiate Cardiac with PE? Also, would nitro be harmful to someone that is having an acute PE?

To be sure, one needs investigations – ECG, enzymes for MI / Fibrin degradation products, Doppler, V-Q scan etc. for PE
Predisposing factors are divergent
The cause for MI is usually I the heart / for PE, it is in the periphery
