How To Differentiate Between Insect Bite Swelling And A Cold Sore?

How can you tell the difference between an insect bit swelling and a cold sore? I have been bitten my mites before, and I am not sure if the swelling is from mites or a herpes related fever blister. I have itching and swelling in the affected area. I do have a mite problem in my apartment, so it is highly likely an insect bite but I am still unsure. Thank you.

Hi,

I think it is more likely insect bite lesion. In cold sore, burning pain is more likely to have rather than itching. In your case you feel itching. Still, you consult dermatologist. Antibiotics, antihistaminics and steroid in tappering dose may be taken. Mild steroid with antibiotic cream may be applied. I hope you may be alright.

Thanks.
