How To Extract Sputum For Sputum Culture?
Hi my name is gazie from INDIA. i m 23 yrs old(female) i have applied for canadian PR , 1 year ago i had medical examination , then there is a repeat for TB test n i m positive . then i treated for TB almost six months nw i m absolutely fine . my all tests are negative but embassy again wants my spoutum smear test. but spoutum is nt coming out its jus a saliva which they dont test............ cn u plz help me what should do nw?

In my opinion you should take nebulization of expectorant. So that they irritate your lungs and produce sputum. This technique is known as induced sputum examination. Commonly used solutions are
1. Hypertonic saline (3%)
2. Ambroxol
If you still not expectorate sputum than consult pulmonologist and get done bronchoscopy and BAL analysis for AFB. This is considered as best sample to testTB.
