How To Get Rid Of Ingrowns?

I have always had ingrowns for as long as I can remember, I used to cut my toenails in a curved shape and that caused a lot of problems (I even had to get half my toenail cut off while the area was under a local anesthetic because it had gotten so infected they couldn't control it- it worked and I healed).
I still keep getting them even though I now cut my toenails straight and try not to cut to close to the base but still, no matter what I do they always grow inwards and it becomes very painful that I need to cut it out. it's a never ending cycle!! please help!

Hi,
I can understand your concern for problem at big toe nail on both feet.

From your description I can make out the possibility of "ingrown toe nail" which is causing the problem at both big toe nail site. After reading your history I can get that you have recurrent ingrown nail problem.

It can be treated with simple method of excising the growing area of nail root. Laser treatment or excision both depends on the operating doctor to do it best. I advise you to not pinch or pop the area. You can apply a mild steroid cream such as Cortisone cream mixed with and anti-fungal cream. If pain is present then can take paracetamol accordingly.

All the best
