What Are The Side Effects Of Flucloxacillin?

I have been prescribed Flucloxacillin for an infected ingrown toenail and it has made me feel sick since I started to take it on Wednesday and then last night I was very sick after taking it. Then again this morning, I* only had a cup of tea but was violently sick again. Should I stop taking it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, in case of severe vomiting or diarrhoea, you can stop taking the drug. Flucloxacillin belongs to the group of penicillin derivatives which are common in causing hypersensitivity reactions.

Consult with your physician in order to prescribe you another antibiotic for use.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
