How To Get Rid Of Sore Throat?

One week ago, I reached for the wrong toothbrush that had been in my cabinet for a year without use. By the time I noticed, it ws too late. I immediately felt an attack in my throat and sinuses. I was already taking penicillin at the tiime for a periodontal tooth infection in prep for getting an extraction/bone graph. I got the greenish discharge and sore throat. I was traveling at the time, so when I got home I began eating green vegetables and soup remedies. My throat is still slightly sore and my back sinuses are still draining but with a clear mucous. I thought I was getting better until last night I woke up with a t-2 thru t-12 back ach pain scale of 4/5. I took Exederin which has reduced the pain to a 1 or 2. I just want to know if this is turning into something more serious. I have had no trauma to the back and I have a great bed.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Fron yoyr explanation it looks like infection in sinuses known as Sinusitis and due to post nasal drip there is infection in throat.
However back pain can be a coincidence and can be muscular in nature.
Do not worry, it will be fine, you can take muscle relaxants like Chlorzoxasone and apply muscle relaxant gel.
For tge sinus infection you can consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and investigations like sinus x ray can be done for confirmation.
You can be advised a course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers like Advil.
Also do warm saline gargles, saline nasal drops.
Use a cool mist humidifier in your room.
Do steam inhalations.
Sip on plenty of warm fluids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
