Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My upper lip becomes swollen and red only on one side (the right). It hurts, itches and never stops. There is no rash, nothing. I have been to a dermatologist, family practitioner, allergist and neurologist. Nobody knows what it is. It has been like this for almost two years with no relief. Thank you.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Swelling developing at one particular site is quite characteristic of allergy. Are you taking any medication? Certain medicines are known to produce fixed swelling at one particular site. However, since you have mentioned that you have already consulted skin specialist, allergist etc but without any clue as to why the swelling is occurring. A drug allergy is suspected strongly. In case there is history of drug exposure, consult your allergist and the doctor who prescribed the drug.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
