How To Heal Dark,swollen And Painful Toe?

I have a very painful toe for the past three weeks, it is very dark, swollen and painful. I saw. A nurse practitioner twice, she gave me keflex q4hrs which I have taken for the past 8days. I continue to have a lot of pain, I can hardly wear shoes and I have to take pain pills especially at night so I can get some rest. I am not a diabetic. Please advise me.. Pearl

Hi,
From history it seems that you might be having nail bed infection and now abscess might have formed.
This might be the reason, antibiotic is not working.
You may require excision at the site and drainage of pus or exudate.
Afterwards go for regular dressing.
Ok and take care.
