How To Heal Infects Stitch Post Surgery?

Hi. I had laproscopic gallbaldder and appendix removal 6 weeks ago. I feel pretty good except that my body is rejecting the "disolvable stitches". It started at the site right above my belly button. It became badly infected and I had to keep having it packed and re-packed every other day for a couple of weeks. It has improved and when I went to my doctor yesterday she said it was healing nicely. My concern is that it is still leaking some fluid and the area above the belly button is very tender to the touch and feels harder than the skin around it. In addition, another of the sites became infected last week. I didn't have to have it packed because I caught it soon, however my doctor removed some of the sutures but said that he didn't think he got it all. The site is still red and tender. I am missing work but can't wear normal clothes because of the location of the infections. I am very frustrated and wonder how long this healing process could take. Should I still be feeling pain above the belly button? I just need some real advice.
