How To Heal Swollen And Bruised Ankle With Bad Sprain?
My daughter fell yesterday and her ankle became very swollen and bruised. We took her in to urgent care and the dr. said xray showed possible hairline fracture. He had a radiologist look at it and called back today and said no fracture, just bad sprain. Do I need to take her for a follow up with an ortho dr.? If not, should she remain on crutches and in her black boot for now? How long? Should she try to walk on it? When? Thank you for your help!
A hair line fracture is difficult to diagnose and can easily be missed. i think it is better if you show her to an orthopaedic doctor. Till than she should not suppose to put her weight on his affected side. I would not recommend her to walk till she had some kind of bandage or plaster on her limb. Even if fracture is not there walking with out support will cause more damage to already injured ligaments.
