How To Improve The Speech Deficiency Caused Post A Stroke?
my niece who is 40 yrs old born with mitrovalve stenosis recently had a stroke, clot on the left side of the brain. she had her stroke on 4th Feb 2011 her right side of the body is paralysed. she lost her speech and mobility. after giving physiotherapy she is now able to walk slowly (crippled) we are also giving speech therapy but she finds difficult to pronounce the word. but she reads bible and sings all devotional songs. what kind of treatment can improve her speech. recently we gave botax injection for her right arm since it has become tight
I read your question carefully and I am sorry about what has happened to your niece.
I must say however that at times the damage left by the stroke is such that can not be completely compensated by the unaffected brain and some disability remains. Language issues are often the hardest ones to recover. Unfortunately what improvement there is takes place usually in the first 6 months so after 5 years not much improvement can be expected and regrettably there aren't any medications for that apart for the speech therapy you say she has already received.
Wishing you good health.
