Dr. I need your help, i want to know what exactly mean this... I had a CT Scan and the result tells like this :

CLINICAL: CXR shows left apical nodulation

TECHNIQUE: Non-contrast CT scans of the chest.

FINDINGS:

* Reticulo-nodular fibrotic infiltrates are seen at the apico posterior segment of the left upper lobe, showing calcified foci.

* A small calsified nodule of lingula is also seen.

* The rest of both lungs are clear, with no evidence of consolidation, bronchiectatic changes or tree in bud pattern.

* No significant mediastinal or hilar lymphadenophaty.

* No pleural or pericardial effusion.

* Normal cardiac size and configuration, with normal appearances of the great vessels.

* Normal thoracic bony cage.

* Hepatic focal calcified focus is seen, otherwise, unremarkable upper abdominal cuts.

IMPRESSION:

Left apical fibrotic infiltrates with calcified foci are seen as described impressive of old granulomatous disease, with no evidence of active infection.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Any Chest X ray showing such findings requires a CT scan for better interpretation. On CT scan chest if is confirmed that you have some apical fibrosis which might have been there for months to years. They are in no way a reason to cancel your breast surgery. Just for record it will be mentioned that you have certain chest findings. As it is mentioned that there is no sign of active infection therefore you do not have to worry for your breast surgery.
