Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How To Manage Gluten Intolerance Induced High Cholesterol Levels?
I am 60 years old and have coeliac disease, diagnosed 18 months ago. Since then I have been on a strict gluten free diet and have now found my cholesterol level of LDL has risen a whole point to 5.8. My HDL is 5. I have never had this problem before. How do I respond to this so that I am not at risk of heart disease. PS I am not overweight.
Sir, Could you please check your values again? Your HDL at 5 sounds totally unreasonable. And the LDL is also very high. Now HDL is your good cholesterol and I have never seen an HDL that high. Please right back with your total lipid profile in front of you and write down all the numbers in your test including trigycerides, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL please. Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing back.
