How To Medically Wean Off Of Xanax?

Where can I find an inpatient drug treatment detox facility in the western suburbs of Chicago that takes Medicaid? I am severely addicted to Zanax and I need to be weaned off medically. I know I need professional help and if try to do it myself, I can suffer siezures or even die. I have also been on a methadone maintainence program for 14 years, but am only asking for help with the Xanax. I will detox from the methadone at my own clinic. Xanax is a serious powerful drug. But the only insurance I have is Medicaid. I m only looking for a 5-7 day medical detox. please help me. Jeffrey Colin

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You should lower the Xanax dosage by 25% daily and continue it for a week. The next week you should lower it again with 25%. And also do the same the next week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
