I have a friend that has type 2 diabetes. He is taking meds for it. He was told to take his blood sugar in the morning and it ranges from 90 to 120. How do we know if what he ate for breakfast or lunch the day before is keeping the level good? Should he be checking the level more often. Also, he wasn't told what carb intake to shoot for. It is so confusing when trying to prepare meals.
Hello thanx for using hcm,
Basically the patients are advised to check their blood sugars in fasting early morning which is fasting blood sugar, and then after two hours of the breakfast which is post prandial blood sugar.90-120 is a good fasting reading.
Its always advisable to consume low carbohydrate diet in every meal being diabetic.
you can refer to the quantities and portion size as per carbohydrate counting for diabetics.
Try to serve more of whole cereals and grains rather than refined cereals and starches.Avoid juices, sweets, sweetened drinks .
