General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post suggest that your husband & mother are having Tracheo-bronchial allergy.

Management includes:
1. Antihistamine preparations like Allegra & Cough expectorant syrup for symptomatic relief.
2. Montelukast preparation at night as a maintenance therapy.
3. A course of antibiotics may be taken to prevent secondary bacterial attack.
4. Maintain adequate hydration & a healthy balance diet.
5. Warm salt water gargle & steam inhalation.
6. Also make sure that they are well protected from cold, dust & other allergens.

Tynol or Ibuprofen can provide symptomatic relief from fever. But the underlying cause needs to be treated.

Wishing them a good health.
Take care.
