How To Overcome The Itchiness On My Body?

Hi, I am a female, 51 years old and from south-america but have been living in the west since I was 12 years. I have no medical history of illness at all but recently, since august last year my skin (whole body but especially legs, arms and back) are extremely itchy. I have been diagnosed as prurigo nodular and have been taken steriods tablets. It really does not help! What other options are there? thanks

Hi,

Your doctor may be right..You may be having prurigo nodularis. Prurigo nodularis is severely itchy and embarassing disease. Ifvoral steroid is not effective, you may take azathioprine, pregabaline, doxepin...etc...Itralesional steroid injection may be taken in each lesion, which would be helpful in reducing itchiness. Apply steroid cream or tacrolimus oint on the lesions. Keep the mind relaxed.

Hope this helps.
