How To Prevent Ear Infection While Having Preauricular Sinuses?
I have 2 Preauricular sinuses, one on each ear. My left ear keeps getting infected, I know I should probably have surgery but I m scared of hospitals, to the point that I panic, Is there anyway to keep it from getting infected again? I am 21 and rather healthy
Pre-auricular sinuses are abnormal tract from skin surface to subcutaneous tissue, and sometimes even deeper. Usually these are not removed. But in cases with recurrent infection, it is better to remover surgically- usually a minor procedure, which you need not worry about.
Progressives episodes may make the surgery more and more difficult because for progressive scarring- so delay is better avoided. Apart from keeping the area clean and dry and avoiding purposeful squeezing, there nothing much that can be done to avoid getting infected.
