How To Prevent Post Wisdom Tooth Removal Infection?

Hi
I had an upper wisdom tooth removed this morning. it was really quick and I have had no pain yet (8hrs ago). I have, however just coughed and a small blood clot came out. I wasn't worried until I started reading about dry sockets on the Internet. Should I start worrying yet? Is there anything I can do to prevent infection? I can't see the wound due to its position.

Thanks
Leigh
