Hi! I'm sixteen years old and i have been smoking since i was eight. I smoke a pack to a pack and a half everyday!! its horrible. I really hate smoking. Ive tried to quit before and even with support I just cant seam to do it. The only times I dont have any urges to smoke are when im sick. I know that since im underage i can not get any medications to quit smoking. I was wondering what i can do here though because i really feel i can not quit without a medication. Im desperate for help!! Thanks!
P.s. ive tried nicotine patches 21mg and they didnt help me at all. =[
Anti craving agent can help to reduce craving like bupropion and nor tryptiline.
If you are my patients then i would like to treat with following regimen(steps)
1. Initially for 2 weeks NRT(nicotine replacement therapy) 2.Bupropion 150 mg for 1 week then 150 mg twice in a day for 3 months. 3.Anxiolytic and nortyptiline if require. 4. regular follow up and motivational counseling.
