How To Read Blood Test To Determine Whether Iron Supplements Are Required?
Hi I am 28 weeks pregnant and recently got my second trimester blood work results as below. I have been diagnosed with Beta Thalessemia trait in my first trimester results (which I wasn t aware of before pregnancy). My husband was also tested later for any blood defect, but fortunately his results were negative. But now looking at my results below, I don not know if I should start taking additional iron supplements to increase my iron / hemoglobin or what steps should I take? Would really appreciate your suggestion! hi, you have hypochromic microcytic anemia.but its not due to iron deficiency only, because you have thal minor so your low hb and low mcv ,mch value is due to that. iron supplemant is not much helpful. still you can take according to your physicians advice. you may need some blood transfusion at the time of delivary to maintain your hemoglobin levels. thanks for using health care magiuc.
