Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter 3.5 years old is suffering from severe cough and vomiting couple of times today. As per pediatrician she is taking zocef-cv (cefuroxime axetil and potassium clavulanate) antibiotic 6ml--6ml for the past 5 days. Now the doctor is asking us to continue for 5 more days after inspecting her today. Still she is having severe cough while sleeping and vomiting. Also added to my worries her whole body is shaking rarely while she is sleeping. Please advice me about her situation.
She seems to have an infection which will require antibiotic coverage. If you have noticed even a mild change after the initiation of antibiotics then your doctor may be right about wanting to continue with the antibiotics for a while longer.
Her tremor or shaking is due to a lowered immunity and/or change in body temperature; and you will have to keep her warm. This should also subside if she is being accurately treated for the infection. Be patient, keep her warm, well fed and hydrated.
Best wishes.
