How To Reduce Discomfort At Night Due To Pelvic And Hip Fractures?

In early June i sustained a pelvic and hip fracture after falling off a horse. The fractures did not require surgery and I am now able to walk without assistance. However at the end of the day when I sit down my legs begin cramping and its impossible to sleep. Is this something I should be concerned about.....?? What can I do for the discomfort. Flexeril was prescribed by my physician and doesnt seem to help much.

Hello,

The pain in this region may be related to lack of physical activity. Anyway, I recommend checking vitamin D plasma levels for possible deficiency and uric acid plasma levels, which could be responsible for the pain. In the meantime, I recommend trying Gabapentin for the pain and cramps.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
