I use Q-tips to remove excess wax from my ear canals daily. I know it is not suggested. This evening while cleaning my ears I noticed blood on the Q-tip. I did not want to place another Q-tip in my ear to cause any more damage. No blood is running out of my ear, but I currently feel as though I have an ear infection. the pain is not relieved by the typical ear to shoulder motion. Should I be concerned?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain there is a possibility that due to placing of the q-tip into the ear canal there can be injury to the lining of the ear canal or can also be due to perforation of ear drum.. You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough otoscopic evaluation can be diagnostic.. In case if there is injury to the ear canal it will resolve soon and you can be advise antibiotic ear drops to prevent infection. In case if perforation of ear drum has occurred then if perforation is small it can be healed with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers and decongestants.. In case if perforation is larger then surgical patching can be done..
Hope this information helps..
