Hello there, I can understand your concern. Your fasting and post lunch levels of blood sugars seem to be in control, however HbA1c is way out of control. Now this mismatch in HbA1c and blood sugars can happen due to various reasons like: 1) If you are anaemic 2) If you have any abnormal Hemoglobin in your blood. 3) The standardisation of procedure used by the lab you checked. 4) Your blood sugar readings at other times of the day (could be high at night or after breakfast) 5) Your glucometer measuring the blood sugars correctly (if you are using).
You need to start by calibrating your meter, and checking at different times of the day. Also make sure your hemoglobin levels are normal. Meet your physician and discuss this issue as you may need up-titration of medicines or addition of more medicines if sugars are not controlled. Till then continue to follow diet restrictions and include exercise in your daily routine and take the medicines as advised. Hope this helps. Take care.
Dear sir i can understand your concern in my opinion your blood sugars are very good in fasting and after lunch. there are many variants in haemoglobin which will give persistently high values. to investigate this kind of conditions there is avery power tool called CGMS(continuous glucose monitoring system) this will be available in diabetic care hospitals usually they will rent this system for 1wk in hospitals once the system is installed on your skin it will check your blood sugar for 600 times a day and give you a graphical representation.this reports can be correlated with our hba1c%. This tool will help to find the root cause of high Hba1c%. regards Dr vamsi Diabetologist
