How To Reduce Skin Burning Sensation After Using Fluorouracil?

I am in my fourth week of using fluorouracil on my nose and it is working well. However, I am experiencing burning on the lateral sides of the nose where they meet the cheek. Skin is sluffing off and the new skin looks good. What can I use to minimize the burning at this site?

Hello,
Thank you for the query and welcome to health care magic.

Burning,Peeling and Redness of skin while using Fluorouracil cream is a common side effect. These side effects will go away without any problems once the medication is discontinued.
Here are some tips reduce the burning. Do not use any over the counter creams along with fluorouracil. Avoid sun exposure as much as possible, use sun block with atleast spf 15,avoid tanning beds and make up.
Remember that your doctor felt the need and importance of flourouracil for your skin condition, despite the side effects.

If the burning and pain is worsening, you need to consult your doctor immediately.

Hope I was able to help you
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
