Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a metal plate put in my wrist from a colles fracture. i have heard that some people have them removed due to pains or lack of movement. what are the pros and cons of removing a metal plate from the wrist ?
dear anonymous
how long has it been after the operation? the plate can and should be removed after the fracture's healed completely and the removal does not harm the stability and strength of the bone, the lower end of radius in your case. so if its been more than a year I suggest you go right ahead and get it out.
