How To Remove Heaviness In Head After Using Ear Drops For Swelling In Ears?

my wife who was given ear drops 6days back for swelling in ears complains of heaviness in the head and not able to walk properly. She had 4-5 vomits in the last two days, also complaining of constipation. After consultation she took vertin-16 last two days but of no use. Now, she is on stemetil, crocin, and one more medicine I don t remember plus an alprox of 0.25 mg in night. She cannot walk and eat properly. She walks by holding the things. She says while lying down she has no problem. But, if she sits or get up from the bed, there is heaviness in the head. The problem is persisting for the last 4 days. Kindly help.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history related to your wife about the the ear drops given for swelling in the ear but later developed heaviness in the had and vertigo.
So much so that she has to take support while walking and taking Vertin 16, Stemetil, Crocin, Alprax and some other tablet that you can not remember.

The history is suggestive of a complication wither of swelling of the balancing apparatus in the inner ear or extension of the infection into the skull affecting the meninges and/or brain.
I would advise you the following:
- First of all consult an ENT Surgeon to get a clinical examination and clearance of any wax or so to see the tympanic membrane and have a diagnosis.
- Contrast enhanced CT scan /MRI of the mastoids and the brain to get the appropriate diagnosis.
- Supplemented with by a clinical evaluation by a Neurosurgeon.

The final diagnosis will lead to a proper treatment plan, which may be medicines or surgery if required.
