How To Remove The Blockage From The Radial Artery?
Hello, I recently underwent angioplasty and a stent was inserted through my right wrist. After the procedure a cuff was inserted on my wrist that was air inflated to stop the bleeding and help heal that Artery. A nurse was "supposed" to remove a small amount after air from the cuff with a siringe every hour. She missed and did nbot come back for two hours at one point. I have now found out I have a 100% blockage of the radial artery and only the ulna artery is feeding blood to my hand. Can this be fixed??
Hi, this is a possible complication of Angiography or Angioplasty from the radial route. If it is a recent event a small surgery can be attempted to remove the thrombus from the artery. But, usually it is not required as the ulnar artery is enough to supply the hand without any complications or issues due to decreased blood supply. You should consult a Vascular Surgeon for this problem as he can attempt a thrombectomy operation or a Thrombolysis if it has been a recent issue. Take care, Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
