hello sir..the prob is that i chewed pan masala/gutkha for the last 8 years..now the problem is that there is a red stain in my teeth and some time pain in teeth, it looks disgusting..how will i get rid of these pan masala/gutkha?how will i make my teeth white again?waiting for your kind response.. Warm regards, XXXXX
I can understand your concern. As you are having pan masala and gutkha chewing habit, it is possible that the coarse nature of the substances has worn out enamel layer of tooth exposing the underlying dentin and staining it.
You might have external and internal stains on the teeth. External stains can be removed by ultrasonic scaling by dentist. However, this process does not remove internal stains and bleaching might be required to lighten the shade of the teeth and stains.
If you want to quit the habit, you can either gradually reduce the amount of chewing masala or you can quit it cold turkey. Either way, if you suffer from withdrawal symptoms, you can take support of Nicotine Lozenges and nicotine Patches under Nicotine Replacement therapy. In addition, you can consult a psychiatrist for counselling and medications to control the withdrawal symptoms. Your strong motivation to quit the habit will help you to quit the habit.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you can quit the habit soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
