granddaughter eats chaulk on a regular basis, like it s food and she s not eaten lately. She really eats it aggressively like she s starving. This is Geophagia, some time this may be due to low hemoglobin, better get done the hemoglobin test, child need to be taken better care, never let the child alone, some one should be with the child, encourage the child for staple food, hope this information helps.
