How To Taper Down Losartan Dosage?

I m taking 25 mg of losartan per day and my blood pressure is usually 140/60. Can I reduce the losartan to 12.5 mg per day safely? I have a regular doctor and have undergone bi-pass surgery and more recently treated for stroke. I am 85 years old and in good health except for the high blood pressure.

Hello,
i can understand your concern.
Donot reduce the dosage of losartan any further. the minimal dose that we usually advise is 25mg a day. There would not be any use in reducing the dose further. And the bp that you have mentioned 140/60 doesnt warrant any further reduction in the dosage of blood pressure medications. Just keep on monitoring your blood pressure at regular intervals.
take blood thinners like aspirin that your doctor would have prescribed without fail. this will prevent further heart attacks.
hope this helps
