How To Treat A Persistent Bad Cough?

Hi Dr. Grief, I ve been seeing a pulmonologist for about a year and a half because of a bad cough. I started coughing in 2008. My provider tested for lung cancer by means of a mediastinoscopy. The results were negative in April 2013. I was on prednisone for a year after the surgery and I still have the cough. So, now I m changing health care providers and seeking help elsewhere but I m worried about starting over. Do you think I m making a mistake by changing my health care provider?

Hi,

Welcome to HCM,

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

According to your clinical details, you have got the right to change and choose another one. its good news that you do not have cancer.
In my opinion, it could be due to copd, needs prolonged course of treatment. Have a faith on your treating doctor. it will take time.

Hope, I have answered your query.

Wishing you good health.
