How To Treat A Person With Anxiety Who Is Taking Klonopin Regularly?
I have a relative who has been taking klonopin on a nightly basis for several months I don t see any less anxiety in him. He has days where he feel like he can t even get out of the house due to anxiety. He is 62 years old has been out of work for several months but started having these episodes approx. 4 ys ago has progressively gotten worse. He s also on paxil and synthroid daily how can I help him get on the right track.
Hello and thank you for your question. First of all he may need some medication adjustments. His doctor should be told about his continued anxiety and not wanting to leave the house so that medication adjustments can be made. Perhaps he is not telling the doctor all of the symptoms so going to the doctor with him may be helpful. Trying to get him out of the house for short walks with you may be also helpful. Suggest that he see a therapist that is skilled in treating anxiety. Therapists often have many techniques to lower anxiety in patients. Make sure that his doctor is checking his thyroid level regularly because if the dose of synthroid is too high it can make the anxiety worse as well. Good luck to you and I hope e is feeling better soon.
