How To Treat An Open Wound With Pus Discharge On The Leg?
Hi, My name is Dyanne and I fell hard about two weeks ago and I incurred a hard hit and wound to the leg. I ve seen my doctor and it s a bad infection, bright reess that keeps entending arond the deepest part of the with pus sections as well. I have been on antibiotic for four days and it remains pussy and sore. Could this have turn to a staph infection?
Staphylococcus can easily infect skin wounds as it is a normal flora in the skin and any opening may cause it to invade the area and cause infection. If you are not better with the antibiotics in 4 days, you will need to let your doctor know. A change of antibiotics may be considered in this case, but also some wound debridement may be necessary. This means that dead tissues may need to be removed and the wound rinsed thoroughly so the puss and any other dirt or unclean secretions are removed as well.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
