Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have an appointment with PCP today and would like to speak with her regarding my anxiety and smoking cessation. First, I am preparing for the bar exam and anxiety has kicked in to full gear interfering with studying, sleeping, and work. Panic attacks are a bit frequent and I have started smoking too much. Before, I used Zyban to quit, which worked well and Klonopin for anzxiety while in law school. Not together though. Can these meds be taken in conjunction with one another? Is there a better anxiety med?
Zyban contains bupropion and it is a antidepressant. It has good effective in smoking cessation, but not on anxiety symptoms. I would suggest you to use paroxetine as antidepressant for anxiety. You can also take klonopin on sos basis. You can also try relaxation exercise like JPMR. In case, you need more help, you can ask.
Thanks
