Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello,I have a stent in my right kidney and have hade it replaced many times over the last 15 years due to stones and infections. lately the problem is not stones that cause blockage but rather small bits of white substance that get sucked into the stent causing light to moderate pain. My question is...what is this substance and how do I clear it up in the kidney to prevent further blockages? I look forward to your reply.Thank you and Take Care. Henry
Most common cause of debris blocking the stent is recurrent urine infection. Infection causes increased protein and cellular debris in urinary tract, which precipitates to form debris.
The best way to prevent this is to maintain adequate hydration, and antibiotics prophylaxis to prevent infection recurring. A urine culture will tell us whether infection is the culprit. Kindly discuss with your doctor/urologist
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK
