How To Treat Blue Fingernail With Smell After Injury?
Hi, my 3 year old daughter got her ring finger badly smashed in the door hinge 4 days ago and we took her to A&E where she got x-rayed (apparently no evident fracture). Since then she has kept her hand closed in a fist and refuses to show us her finger, so we can only take a look at it at night while she s asleep. The fingernail is completely black and has a foul smell, so I m assuming it is infected. Will an antibiotic ointment suffice or does she need something stronger than that? I m reading some horrible stuff about blood infections if one leaves this kind of stuff untreated... Thanks in advance for your help!
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
The finger nail may be infected. Based on the fact that the color of the finger is black and with a foul smell, it may need a specific treatment. So,I suggest to go at the emergency room for further evaluation.
