How To Treat Dark Red Patches On Legs And Arms Caused Due To Sun Exposure?

I get dark red, purple, or dark blue/black colored splotches all over my legs and arms after sun exposure. I have tried to research it and havent really felt like I have all the symptoms to anything I have found. My doctor has no idea what is wrong with me. The spots are usually really hot to the touch and also itchy. I can be in a pool and will not get them, but if I go to the park or stay outside for a while, they will appear. I m not sure what they are or if there is anything to do for them.

Hi Sir/Madam,

Welcome to Healthcare magic.

I understand your concern.

Going by your symptoms in depth they probably represent a combination of polymorphic light induces eruptions underlying cholinergic urticaria.

Any sensitive individual is likely to manifest such skin lesions once they expose themselves to outside weather.

It's very important to treat these lesions before they flare up in awkward and resistant manner.

I generally treat my patients with oral tablets of Cetirizine and Propanolol. I suggest you to please see a doctor if his views are same and if can prescribe these drugs for you.

Topical application of steroidal creams will sometimes offer instant relief. For this, I advise you to consult your dermatologist in person and see if he shares my view.

Treatment for 3-6 months will offer excellent relief.Avoid sun exposure if possible from 10 am to 2 pm.

Use sunscreens with SPF 50.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
