How To Treat Ear Infection In A 5 Years Old Child?
My five year old has been sick with an ear infection and is being treated on antibiotics for the last 48hrs. He is running a low grade fever of 100.5 consistently and this morning he woke up with c/o pounding in his chest. His heart rate at rest is 135 today. Is this abnormal?
Yes, a heart rate of 130+ in a five year old is abnormal, but it is in line with the fever that he has. Just continue the antibiotic for 5-6 more days if he is improving. But if he is not improving, go back to the doctor for a reassessment. He may need an ENT consult.
