I am 42, a sportsman, never had into any medication, no previous heath issues, do not smoke or drink. In the past i had never checked my blood pressure. I was feeling head ache since evening and as checked the blood pressure, it came out to be 143/ 103. Had ispirin tab (for the headache )and after 10 min rest the reading was 135/ 91. The heart beat initially was 62 and now is 57. I am 5 8 and 69kgs. Pls suggest what to do?

hi
normal resting blood pressure (half an hour after exercise )should be below 140/90 mm hg.

your weight for height is normal and glad to note that you are a teetotaller..however you need to take normal diet to maintain normal blood sugar levels especially during periods of heavy exercise.

low blood sugar can cause headache and so. an elevated blood pressure(although literature states that hypertension is asymptomatic in many)

I feel you have a tendency for going in for high blood pressure, suggest that you monitor your blood pressure levels using home blood pressure monitoring digital apparatus twice a day and observe the chart for any readings more than or equal to 140/90 mm hg.if so you need to consult your family dr for considering medications for testing high blood pressure,

restrict your salt intake, sleep for atleast 7 hours at night and avoid over exertion(over exertion can also cause headaches).

if headache is severe and recurrent associated with vomiting then you need to consult your family dr for considering other rare causes like impending leak from blood vessels supplying brain in which case the headache will be the most severe .

hope this helps.
