Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife had 106 degree Fahrenheit fever with chills on 30March 2014. Doctor recommend to go for the Widal test and its shows positive for the typhoid. just after taking medicine fever never crosses 99.5 from 31march 2014 but never be below of 99. Doctors says it is not to have the fever in 99 degrees as it may sound other problem .
Hi, It is very good for you to be cured of such a serious disease. Fever usually implies temperature of more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit, as it is normal for some people to have temperature of 99 degree Fahrenheit. A further point questions the diagnosis, as according to you, the condition was diagnosed by Widal test. It is very likely for non infected patients to have positive Widal test in Endemic areas. Blood or stool culture is the gold standard test. Widal can be used in endemic areas but is suggestive of typhoid only if shows rising titres on two separate occasions Regards
